laptop AC adapter not recognized

Every time I turn on my Dell Inspiron 15R laptop, I get the following message:
"The AC adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Please connect a Dell 130W AC adapter or greater for the best system performance."
I don't know why I am getting this message since:
- I am using the 130W Dell AC adapter that came with the laptop
- The adapter is charging the battery properly
- The green light on the Dell DA130PE1-00 adapter stays on all the time when in use
- The port connection is fine
So, other than this annoying error message, everything seems to be working fine.
Solution:
Please share the exact error message that you are getting from the system. Please check if the charging port on the laptop is loose. Connect an alternate laptop power ac adapter to see if that works fine with the system.
Do you see light on Dell AC Adapter? If yes, please follow the below steps:
Please check the status of the AC Adapter in BIOS:
Restart the system and keep tapping 'F2' as soon as the Dell logo appears.
Under 'System', go to 'Device Info'.
Check the status of Dell Xps L702X Adapter.
Note: Use arrow keys to navigate in BIOS.

Also, check the battery health in BIOS:
Go to 'System' and go to 'Battery Info' and also check 'Battery Health'.

Also, boot the system in Windows and place the cursor on the battery icon on the right bottom corner of the system and it will show either of the messages:
Plugged in, charging.
Plugged in, not charging.
If you are getting 'Plugged in, not charging' message, I will recommend you to update the BIOS:
Please find the link for BIOS update: http://dell.to/SEKdFG
Note: The Dell XPS 15 L502x ac adapter should be connected and the battery should be at least 10% charged. Please disconnect all the external devices connected to the system before updating the BIOS. Please save all the unsaved data as your system will restart automatically while updating the BIOS.
Click on the above link.
Click on 'Download Now'.
Select "Single-file Download" and click on "Continue".
Click on "Run" and follow the on screen instructions.

Keep me updated. Please reply for any further questions.

Laptop Charger Beeping

"a few months ago my AC adapter stopped powering my inspiron 8500. It has a green light on it and that light stopped coming on, and I could hear a faint beeping coming from it (meaning that power was getting to the adapter but it was not doing what it was supposed to). So, I ordered a new part, and it got here and after 3 days of use, it started doing the same thing. I am assuming that these are broken, but if anyone can tell me otherwise I`d be really happy. I looked over some of this forum and the laptop ac power Adapter outputs the same amperage as the computer requires (at least on the new one that broke in three days). I thought this might be a common problem or something but maybe I`m just unlucky."
Answer:"Some switching/regulated power supplies seem to have a hum or a whine moreso than others. (I've a Dell laptop supply that hums.)
You should try putting different loads on it. When the laptop is on, backlight at full, charging the battery, etc, the power supply will be under more load than when the laptop is powered off and the battery is full (or not present). Under the light load, the supply may hum more loudly or not at all.
My experience has been that if the laptop power supply hums or makes noise when under load, it's probably an indication of impending failure. If it hums when under light or no load, it may simply be that it's making the noise as the switching circuit engages less often. (The Dell supply I mentioned hums under light/no load, and has been fine for years.)
A switching power supply essentially turns on and off at a high speed, and it is this cycling that can cause an audible sound.
Try the following:
Try a different wall socket. There might be a problem with mains power causing it.
Measure the output using a voltmeter to see if it's within tolerance of the stated specifications.
If it's a high-pitched whine or hum, it might be just fine. If it's more of a hiss or sparking sound, you might have bad components that are arcing internally, etc.
Most power supplies like this are very difficult to open up to inspect; not recommended unless you know what you're doing and don't mind voiding any warranty. It's probably best and safest to procure a replacement supply before doing any damage to yourself or your computer."
"Solutions for Laptop Charger Beeping
Now that you know the possible reasons for the laptop battery not charging and the charger beeping, you also need to be aware about the solutions for the same. First of all, understand the fact that there are not too many things that you can do, when you come up with this problem. The only option that you are left with is of buying a brand new charger of the same brand. If there is no problem with the electricity circuit or the power supply, the only thing that you can do is to throw away the existing charger for a brand new one. There is another thing that you can do, if your laptop charger starts beeping within the warranty period. In such cases, you can contact the dealer from where you bought the laptop. You can also directly contact the customer care cell manufacturer and demand for battery charger replacement! These are the two best solutions that you can opt for.

A laptop battery charger is quite inexpensive as compared to the laptops and hence, rather than taking chances with life and performance of your laptop, it is always better to buy a new charger!

Hp laptop charger is hot

"Im a 16 year old boy and my laptop charger is very hot. one day i was in my room and i saw that my laptop was no longer charging so i went to touch the charger and it was so hot i was almost burned so i let it cool down in a cool place my living room and it start working again but now its always hot and its making a buzzing noise is this safe for my laptop its only the middle part thats hot. not the tip of it are anything."

Solution:
"Many of HP's laptop power supplies get very hot when in use. I've never had a problem with mine, per se, but my girlfriend and her brother both have the same laptop, and theirs get as hot as mine. Her brother's stopped working one day, and I took it to my shop. It provided 18.5 (actually 18.87) volts perfectly fine under no load, but when plugged into the laptop, it would get hot and after about 5m, stop providing voltage. After getting inside (NOT an easy task) the problem appeared to be a group of solder joints that had, due to heat expansion and contraction, lost all but partial contact with the circuit. When the charger would get hot, the board would flex and the circuit would break. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but I should be able to fix the problem by resoldering the offending joints."

"It's unclear to me what exactly is hot. But anyhow, whether it is an "internal" (laptop) component that gets overheated or an external thing, you should go with your laptop and laptop power adaptor to get it serviced. You don't want to risk fire because of that. Especially if you smell that hot thing and feel funny odors. It could be a bad contact with the power line (bad dangerous plug in the wall), it could be a bad wire (that again dangerous as it could spark). You must get your pc checked by a specialist. Really."

"Get a new one, or if you have some technical know how you can unscrew the middle part and see what really wrong. Something has probably melted. I have two batteries and both of them I took to Britain and since then I noticed the hotness cause I just replaced the front wire with a british one. So ya Repleace it, try toget it fixed or fix it yourself. I can be dangerous."
